The iPhone 12 mini is the most powerful and compact phone sold by Apple in years. Including the iPad mini and the all-new HomePod mini in the tech giant’s product line is the first iPhone to bear the “mini” moniker.
Together with the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and the affordable HomePod mini, the palm-sized 5G iPhone was launched during Apple’s “Hi, Speed” October event. It is the smallest and the most affordable iPhone 12 variant, priced at $699.

The iPhone 12 mini smartphone is nearly identical to the iPhone 12, display size and battery power. The latest A14 Bionic chip with an improved Neural Engine and excellent dual camera has the same elegant and robust architecture as its 6.1-inch sibling. Its size and ergonomic advantages bring characterize the iPhone 12 mini.
Compact Design is All About Handling
The newcomer is tiny enough without skimping on characteristics to fit in the palm of your hand. That’s why this smartphone is the perfect miniature.
The iPhone 12 mini without a Touch ID is the most portable iPhone available. It has the same design as the iPhone 12 but a smaller 5.4-inch display with smooth edges and slim display bezels.
The iPhone 12 mini has a smaller footprint than this year’s iPhone SE and other 4.7-inch iPhone versions that go back to iPhone 6 while rocking a larger screen. There are almost no screen bezels in the Apple iPhone 12 mini, making it shorter and smaller than its predecessors. The 12 mini is slightly more significant than the older iPhone 5/5s and the first-generation iPhone SE with smaller 4-inch Retina displays.
I liked being able to use the iPhone 12 mini continuously with one hand when I checked it. And during walks in Central Park, sending long emails and engaging in Slack discussions were a breeze. Without the slightest risk of losing it, communicating with the phone quickly felt just like using the iPhone 5s years ago.
In particular, the iPhone 12 mini’s designed architecture sets a high bar for the entire market. In contrast, in 2011, with its 5.3-inch display that was beyond gigantic for its time, we gawked at the first Samsung Galaxy Note — a device that popularised the word phablet. And now, almost a decade later, celebrating the compactness of an iPhone with a 5.4-inch screen.
The Smallest Super Retina Display
The iPhone 12 mini’s Super Retina XDR screen, measuring 5.4 inches diagonally, has the most compact and powerful OLED display. It is slightly tinier than the iPhone X, iPhone XS, and iPhone 11 Pro 5.8-inch Super Retinas, but it’s just as fantastic. The iPhone 12 mini’s display has a higher pixel density due to its smaller scale, slightly sharper.
Its screen shows bright hues and dramatic contrast with millions of individually backlit pixels by switching off dots to reveal black. It is compatible with Ultra HD content and fitted with the color gamut of Apple True Tone tech and P3 to display rich and precise colors in any lighting.
Having an OLED screen in a portable iPhone is a big deal and a huge turning point for the product family. Buyers wanting a small-sized iPhone previously had to settle for a less captivating LCD.
Apple iPhone 12 Mini: Power and Speed
The iPhone 12 mini is the most powerful and compact smartphone yet. It packs the same updated Neural Engine A14 Bionic chip as the larger iPhone 12 models and the new iPad Air, so it accelerates almost every mission.
The A14 Bionic makes contact with the user short and fluid in conjunction with speedy 5G network connectivity. In switching between a double-digit number of open applications, there is a slight delay, too.
“Apple noted during the announcement of the iPhone 12 lineup that as the first smartphone chip designed via a 5-nanometer process, the A14 Bionic is “generations ahead of the competition.” The cutting-edge technology has given the chip crazy power by packing more transistors into a smaller room while keeping it energy-efficient.
While we checked it, the iPhone 12 mini consistently made it through a full day of use. You’ll find this model to be the ideal showcase for the power-sipping technology of the A14 Bionic. It added to the product’s lightweight size by not having a large battery to keep it going.
The recycled aluminum frames and glass back of the iPhone 12 mini are available from Apple in five colors: white, black, green, blue, and RED. Just remember that the packaging of this product lacks a charger and an EarPod.
With 64 GB of storage, the iPhone 12 mini starts at $699, and I highly suggest you spend $50 extra to double it. A variant with 256 GB costs another $100 and is worth the investment, unusually for camera fans.
Like the standard iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, the iPhone 12 mini is also compliant with Apple’s MagSafe technology. Apple is also offering, and the range of cases and accessories that use it is continuously increasing.
